The Challenge:
To write a post that actually expresses how I feel right now without a) making people roll their eyes, b) sounding like a self-important prat, c) downplaying the fact that yesterday totally blew my mind.
The Facts:
At exactly noon EST, January 20, dozens of bloggers posted a single silly-song collaboration.
Less than twelve hours later, over 300 bloggers had posted that same silly-song collaboration.
That simple gesture raised over $2,000 in support of Multiple Myeloma research. But more importantly? It showed someone that most of us have never met that we care, that we’re inspired, and that we’re holding our breath alongside her.
In other news, we crammed that girl so full of emotions that she was no doubt choking between happy sobs as she attempted to tell her students to read silently for the rest of the day….at noon.
Plans for future surprise emotional assaults on vulnerable bloggers are in the works. Don’t you dare show weakness lest the supportive herd descend upon you…
Oh – what’s that? You’re having a rough day? LET US REDUCE YOU TO A WEEPING MESS IN FRONT OF YOUR COLLEAGUES, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS. WE WILL LEAVE YOU TREMBLING AND ALONE TO PICK UP THE FRAGILE PIECES OF YOUR MENTAL STATE AS THE REST OF US GO OUT FOR CELEBRATORY COCKTAILS FOR OUR JOB WELL DONE.
Seriously. We will be relentless in our emotional fisting of your life.
The rest of the day was a continuous out-pour of love and excitement as the 20SB Bootlegger Awards were announced.
Out of 10,000 people, I was hugely flattered to be included among the nominees – or the community at large, for that matter – and quite literally giddy to have won more than my fair share: 1) Best Male Blogger, 2) Best Guest Blogger, 3) Best Vlogger and 4) Sexiest Blogger.
So the question remains: what do I do now?
