Second annual NDBCMSRICTG!

I’m not going to get all after school special on you now but I think it’s worth saying that in the past four months more than ever, I’ve started to see truly lifelong friendships take form.

We don’t have classes to force us to spend time together, we have more priorities to worry about than ever, and there’s always a battle between spending strategically and having fun. But through it all, I think I’m really starting to tell which people around me are going to be the ones that I start to make traditions with – the ones that are going to be there for the big moments in life.

It’s kind of humbling actually…

This time last year, we got together with my former roommate and her boyfriend and drove off in a blizzard to spend a weekend by the fire, hot tub and liquor cabinet in the country. Since then, we all moved in with our significant o’s, we’ve all adopted puppies, and we’ve all bought houses. This weekend we went for round two at a different resort.

We puppy-bombed our friends and families and hightailed it out of town to this:

And opened our curtains to see this:
It was a perfect spot to contemplate life. Or…at least strike cliché poses that make it look like you’re contemplating life when in fact you’re just trying to remember the rap part of UB40′s Red Red Wine after drinking a lot of Red Red Wine.
The wine then led to our cute couple friends doing romantic getaway things like this…
…while I accidentally took really inappropriate photos – it was supposed to be me getting fish-hooked by this Captain Morgan chap. Not…well, you know…
But we did take a damn good group photo if I do say so myself…
…and, of course, we had sexy, 60s Go-Go dance parties. Just to keep it real.

The second annual non-denominational but clearly more strongly rooted in Christmas traditions getaway was a whopping success.

Sid: Me too…

Moooooog: I should probably write an apology letter to your employer, shouldn't I? It's been a tough week.

Lindsay: Oh it's sooooooo good!

Jeney: Thanks!

Mjenks: She'll thank me when she's older. Or kill me.

Amy: I've perfected most of her dramatic hand movements. It's cool.

Heather: I never forget.

Stealthnerd: Oh boo. I've left carpools for less.

Nicole: It's only fair I share the love.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOH I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY! I WANNA FEEL THE HEAT WITH SOMEBODY!!!! YEEEEEAH I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY! WITH SOMEBODY WHO LOOOOOOOVES ME!!!

I hear that song 1 time and it is stuck in my head for the rest of the week. And I sing it everywhere I go. By the end of the week I am the happiest person alive and everyone around me is miserable.

Thank you for making my week.

I already read your AMAZING fiction. Now it's time to jam out to some Whitney. I'd better stretch my muscles for this, it's been awhile since I've dramatically signaled a key change (that's what happens when you start driving with other people again).

Ah, Whitney Houston. Don't forget about the twitchy lip spasms to display how serious you are about caterwauling.

I think I'll do both. ^_^

Everyday is Whitney day in my world. Seriously, the antics in my car are embarassing and ridiculous and whoever invents a way to eliminate a sweaty upper lip is the second coming of Christ. Okay, kidding about the lip.

The stog was lovely, by the way. You're amazing.

My daughter is having a friend over tonight after school.

I can't help but feel that it was no coincidence that her friend is coming over AND you've dubbed today Old School Whitney Houston Key Change Day.

Sorry, kid, it must be done.

Considering my singing talents are akin to a steam leak in a dryer, I read the STOG.

And I must say your piece was beautiful… loved it!

How can you NOT love Whitney? The Bodyguard is on my list of all-time favorite movies (love when singers think they can act).

Read it. Loved THIS: “She was his life – art in motion.” Just waiting for a guy to describe me in this fashion.
