Okay – first of all, I know you’re all going to check out because most of you don’t care when bloggers post awesome poetry or short fiction. But nonetheless, I loved writing this and I love – in a totally hetero way – Peter DeWolf for encouraging us to try something different.
To enter his Drabble competition all you have to do is write a piece of fiction that’s exactly 100 words. Here’s my entry and I dare you to try something different…

She already had that familiar look on her face – the one where she’s trying to cry but only in a retreat to passive aggressive higher ground. Her blonde hair was straightened well into frigid hag territory. How fitting.
As he moved his lightly packed duffel bag from the hardwood to the back of the beater he bought so she could drive the leased 2009, he glanced back at his former mortgage and smirked.
Calling Suzie, he slumped into the driver’s seat, joined moments later by his faithful beagle cross who was just as tired of living in a two-bitch household.

This was put up on my birthday so it gets points for that as well as points for being entertaining. I love the last line the best. You get two gold stars.
stumbled across your blog while surfing, then the title “A beater and a beagle” caught my eye.
I dig it. Nothing better than a beagle. And, beagle aside, it’s a nice wee piece.
