It’s California hot here this week and branches of government have literally shut down because of ‘extreme heat’ in their buildings.
Canada is hilarious.

I love that you guys use BOTH ends of the weather spectrum to create days off. ”Extreme heat day” is my second favorite only to “Random Queen Day”.
Bogus Canadian holidays FTW!
(ps it’s ALWAYS Random Queen Day in San Diego. At least, for me.)

I love the Queen. She seems like a sturdy old lady, you know the kind that can take a punch.
That may be one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard said about the Queen.
Uhm, me no get it
Oh god. Don’t make me explain something that was meant to be funny. I feel like that gets even more awkward online than it is in person….
Awesome!
Awesome = Tia.
I need to work at the government offices that close down due to heat. Not so much because of the day off but because they’re obviously the buildings that don’t have air conditioning cranked so high your fingers turn purple *sigh* wish I were back home on the east coast where it is hot! In Calgary, fall has arrived.
I’m one part lucky because my office has air conditioning. Then one part unlucky because I’ve never been sent home because of extreme heat.
Canada is awesome
SECONDED.
Dude, I wish my funny emails didn’t have a group of 11 people involved, 2 of whom would NEVER agree to me reproducing the email for a post.
Also, “extreme heat days” should be calculated into work calenders and just required to be given. I love the concept!!!
Booooo. All my friends basically understand that anything they say or do can and will be used against them in blog.
Wait. What? How hot does it even get in Canada. Temperatures reach round 37 degree C her in CT and work has never been called off due to extreme heat.
It was 34 here yesterday but we have this nasty humidity business that makes for a ‘feel like’ temperature of 44+. Which is a big deal here I guess.
Oh, you Canadians with your strange temperature readings. . .
And random ‘u’s. And kilometers.
it’s not ‘kilometres’ in Canada? That’s random.
I don’t even know anymore. Being a Canadian is confusing.
Haha Extreme Heat Day – that’s a classic. God we sure love our random days off
Not as much as Newfoundlanders! Orangeman’s Day. Prince Someone’s Day. Regatta Day BUT ONLY IF IT’S SUNNY.
I like The Queen’s hat. It’s like a present for everyone.
Also, I used to say “To the Queen” every day one summer due to the Cosby Show. Needless to say I was kicked in the groin a lot.
Agreed. Let’s rock more hats. With feathers.
I’ve pretty much melted into my keyboard.
This is insane.
Air conditioned office.
Barely noticed it was even summer at all.
Sad, really.
Random Queen Day. Ha. I love it.
I understand the extreme heat though. Southeast Georgia. We either feel like we’re stuffed into an oven or feel like someone’s giving us a really hot shower.
Ugh. We’re bracing ourselves for a HURRICANE coming overnight tomorrow. So that’s our cherry on top, I guess.
Ha.
This made me literally right out loud.
Which is *just* what I needed this afternoon.
Good. ‘Cause I put like four minutes of effort into it
we’re amazing.
but i kinda feel like we’re some of those people who won’t be appreciated in our own time. like famous artists. and dead supermodels.
le sigh.
Totally. They’ll miss us when we’re gone.
I wish that we could make random days off. Its practically always sunny and 70s here in LA…not day-off worthy!
Canada’s awesome.
